Killer asteroids, deadly comets and other celestial rocks and debris are the subject of this children's book. I have a fascination with all things asteroidal and read this book with glee. The author explains about the extinction of the dinosaurs, past asteroid (rock), comet (ice gas) impacts on earth and the moon and about the potential disaster such objects can cause. The author goes into enough depth to cover the science involved, and how catastrophes might be avoided by the use of technology, weaponry (such as bombs, nuclear warheads etc), without being bogged down with too much scientific jargon. The author even discusses other celestial phenomenon such as the asteroid belt between Saturn and Jupiter. This is an interesting accessible book for scientists of all ages.
