King James Psalter: Black Cover

The Psalms are the Prayer Book of the Church. They are at the heart of Christian worship, comforting, instructing, inspiring, and giving voice to devotion for millenia. For over four hundred years, the people of God in the English-speaking world have been blessed to find in the Authorized Version an endless wellspring of exalted language for their deepest spiritual longings. Whether in profound repentance, humble supplication, joyous thanksgiving, or ebullient praise, the breathing of the Holy Spirit through the verses of David has an especial beauty, and in the rhythm and cadence of the King James Bible it has and will continue to succor those who turn to God in prayer through its inspired language. Arranged for daily prayer, the present edition of the Psalter is provided to meet a perceived need, for currently it is difficult to acquire a Psalter in the Authorized Version. This is regrettable, for the impeccable quality and historic reliability of the KJV, relying as it does on stable, non-eclectic Hebrew text transmissions, means that the King James Psalms deserve a continued place of honor. It has helped to shape the very structure of the English-speaking mind, and among all other English translations the King James Version endures as a safe place to turn when turning to the Lord.
