Christian Slade, a former Disney animator and currently full-time freelance illustrator, has brought to Top Shelf a gorgeously illustrated woodland fantasy about a young girl named Ivy, her dog Sprout and their amazing adventures in Korgi Hollow. This amazing combination of adventure and fantasy will appeal to anyone who loves Andy Runton's Owly and Jeff Smith's Bone. Get ready for the launch of something very daring and very new!
Whimsical and lovely face adventures in a land where the stubby steeds work and live alongside their riders.
Beautiful.
Love these books!

I picked up the second book in this series because I have a corgi and thought the artwork was adorable! I was surprised to find that these books have more to offer than their cuteness factor. Published by Top Shelf, they're described as "all ages graphic novels" which essentially means that they have no words and the exact story is up to interpretation. A little bit fantasy, a little bit science fiction, the short volume is fraught with adventure, and, of course, adorable depictions of corgis. I thought this was an interesting take on the old Welsh myth that corgis were the companions of fairies.
My children love "reading" the story to me.

The illustrations are beautiful and how can you not love a girl and her dog? My children can't read yet, but they can read the facial expressions and every part of this story just by looking at the pictures. It is good for them to practice this important skill. In this story, Ivy is chased by Monsters, but her dog protects her and she fights back. There is a fun surprise at the end. I recommend this book very highly! It's one of my child's favorites.
Best Corgi Adventure Ever

There are some things I use in my life to measure the taste and character of people I meet. Korgi is one of those things. If you don't find Korgi charming and precious, there's something wrong with your soul. In fact I suggest therapy. Yes, it takes two minutes to read. You will read it ten times in a day. Korgi is a simple story of a little girl and her corgi. They have adventures. They fight monsters. But there's so much more, so much more definition, that the artist layers onto his creation that makes careful and extensive examination of the book worthwhile. Simply looking at a picture of the korgis presented does not satisfy, but looking and mentally dissecting every image does. Korgi is a sweet (but never saccharine) tale. Share it with someone who likes simple tales. And puppies.
can't wait for the next one...

WOW I'm going to 'read' it again as soon as I finish this review. It was an experience like a child's first awareness of a butterfly. Korgi Book 1 made me feel like a wide-eyed child agian. The drawings are rich with expression and movement; the story is exciting and unpredictable. Discovery, Adventure, Growth, Affection, Wonder. Yes, it is a fantasy for all ages. It can be shared with the youngest of dreamers and even old reminiscers like me. I can hardly wait for Korgi Book 2.
