You do not READ this book you TRY this book!

Many folks might complain about the "readability" of this book, but that mindset basically misses the approach taken with this book. It is not a read from start to end type of book. We learn by doing and this book is entirely about "doing" - the details are explained as your read and run the scripts themselves. If you actually need to acommplish real-world tasks in the Korn shell, this book becomes unrivaled! Kind Regards, Randall62

This is a great book of Korn Shell examples and techniques. However, to understand it, one would first have to have read a good book on Korn Shell syntax and programming. So, this is a second-book for new Korn Shell programmers, not a first book. This is a book that will take you from new/aspiring Korn Shell programmer to a polished/professional Korn Shell programmer. The only reason it does not get five (5) stars is because of no index.

GREAT examples; (TONS of them). Practical, real-world examples. I use both the ksh/Korn shell and the BASH shell at work. People who have no experience with UNIX-LINUX environments should study a book for beginners before considering this one. NOTE: There is no CD-ROM available for this book, nor is there a web-site that contains all of the examples, but this book's MANY practical examples save me lots of time. This book is better than being given a copy of the test before an exam: it's like being given the exam with all of the answers filled in.
