If you're a beginner to the game of box lacrosse, this book will get you off on the right foot. Hinkson lays things out in simple format and uses photographs to emphasize his points, plus he tells you how to practice what you learn. Not everyone would agree will Hinkson's approach to the game, but his ideas aren't what one would call controversial either.Fans of the game will enjoy this one too, as they'll find their ability to follow the game improves.
Excellent book for learning the fundamentals of box lacrosse

Lacrosse players, young and old, would find this book very useful to start playing the game or if players want to hone their skills. The book is very well detailed , from players basic stick skills, individual offense, individual defense, face-offs, to goaltending. Also, for you coaches out there, I highly recommend buying this book.
great for box, indoor or canadian style lacrosse

Jim Hinkson's books (see also Lacrosse Team Strat.) are a valuble resource for the indoor lacrosse player coach or fan. While "Fundamentals" covers the individual skills each player will need to successfully play indoor lax, "Team Strat." covers understanding, developing, and coaching indoor lax plays - both offence and defense, man-up or short-handed. This 'team strategy' book may be for what the 'fan-only' is looking for a deeper understanding of the game. "Lacrosse Fundamentals" has a wonderful foreward by Chief Irving Powless, Jr. of the Onondaga Nation that describes, in the small space available, the vast importance the game of lacrosse holds for he and his people. Enjoy
great book for young box lacrosse players and coaches

I have coached teenage box lacrosse teams for 6 years now. I require my players to keep a team file folder into which they are to place and review things like drills, plays, strategy, etc. Several chapters from this book have also been photocopied by me and put in their files. The author has played and coached lacrosse for over 30 years and is recognized as one of the foremost box lacrosse authorities, along with Jim Bishop, his old mentor-coach, in Canada. He also has a second book out now on box lacrosse strategies, which you don't list. A must read for those wanting to know about "the fastest game on two feet"
Tips for indoor (box) lacrosse players
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 28 years ago
A good book for beginning lacrosse players, written by one of the game's top instructors. This book concentrates on the indoor game, also known as box lacrosse or boxla, and focuses on techniques for individuals, rather than team strategy. Using pictures to illustrate his points, Hinkson is especially helpful for young players and adult beginners, (the chapter on indoor goaltending helped me to improve my game in an adult recreational league). Check out Hinkson's other lacrosse titles, including "the fastest game on two feet" which is difficult to find, but deals in depth with team strategy for the indoor game, and his new book, "winning lacrosse strategies," for tips on the field game.
