Superb history of landscape painting and why so late to develope in the Western world.

This book just came into my hands bringing exactly the sky, sea, transcendence i have been questing for in art. Although published in 1981, it is,to me, full of fascinating history. for instance how the Chinese painted landscapes from their beginning while the West did not until the 14th century.
The reproductions are so fitting,so evocative of the subject.If you love drama,art history,the sublime--this is the book for you.
