I know very little about US law, and this book is well written, easy to follow, and informative. Not boring, either! I recommend it.
Law 101: An Essential Reference for Your Everyday Legal Questions
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
This is the BEST and most informative legal guide for the lay person I've come across and I reviewed many. It's the only reference of its kind that helped me every single step of the way from moving to sue for wrongful termination to realizing the perfect approach was to sue for intentional tort/battery as well as negligence. Brien Roche wrote a legal masterpiece in very friendly language and I highly recommend this book to everyone. Many may not realize they can receive a 6-, 7- or 8-figure judgment in their favor, that they're sitting on a situation that the law says is worth a lot in dollars - they just need to know how to present it intelligently to prospective attorneys. This book did this for me!
Excellent Primer on U.S. Law

While this book would not interest a legal professional, it is an excellent basic text on U.S. law for the lay person or beginning pre-law student. The simple definitions and descriptions make the law approachable and gives a good basis for future legal study. It also could serve well as a shelf reference for a family library.
Good basic text for a high school law class!

I bought this book to use as a resource to teach a law class to Juniors and Seniors at a Charter School for motivated learners. This book has been a godsend when it comes to structuring my course, as there are NO TEXTBOOKS out there that cover the wide spectrum of the law, without fluff or opinion. I hope to adopt this book as our class text book for next year, as it is so information-packed and so informative that I find myself practically lecturing right out of the book! I recommend it to other teachers, and to anyone who wants to learn about all the types of law. It would be very helpful to students considering a career in the law, who want to know what types of law exist. It is also a convenient-to-carry size with larger type so that it is easy to understand and read.

Very thorough and easy to follow. Provides a solid understanding of the legal situations that a layperson is most likely to fall into. Overall, extremely helpful.
