Just a small stream would yield a river of thoughts....

I bought this book about ten years ago when I was in third grade, and I was immediately and completely enthralled by the very notion of reading about my favorite video game characters in a lush and exciting adventure. I was and supposedly am a Mario fanatic at heart (even now during my James Bond fan years) since I grew up playing the Super Mario Brothers games. To top off the perfection, I was in complete control of the decisions and the items. It was bliss for me as a young gradeschooler! That summer, I set off to work writing my own 120+ page adventure novel closely following the Leaping Lizards Adventure Book format (my story was about Super Mario World, though). My writing skills were youthful, but I decided to redo my novel two summers later. Even after that, I started prewriting for yet a third version as my thoughts and writing skills matured even more. I discovered that I was a great writer in middle school, and reading Leaping Lizards was probably a significant reason- it was an inspiration. I now want to be a storywriter and novelist, and I truly do not know how skilled I would be now (or if I would have even considered serious writing) without reading this book. I probably wouldn't have started writing my first novel until my sophomore year in high school, after I discovered James Bond literature, and critical skill development years would have drowned in the sands of time forever. I am not saying that I owe even a major part of my writing skills or interest in it to this book, since that would be false anyway. (I owe many of my writing skills to a respected English/Creative Writing teacher.) I am saying that this book was the catalyst for a person who has the potential to become a writer great enough to soar with and higher than all the other renowned writers of the world. Can you believe it? I still find it fantastic and incredible. Just one small drop in the stream of time... Just a small stream would yield a river of thoughts...
