Here are four wonderful Chinese folk tales, all based on stories originally collected by Normal Hinsdale Pitman in A Chinese Wonder Book published in 1918. We've updated the stories and retold them using very simple language (just 540 words ) that can be read and understood by beginning students of Chinese.
Not only are these great stories, but they are easy to read. Opposite each page of Chinese is a page of pinyin (phonetic spelling), so if you don't recognize a word, you can check the pinyin to see how it's pronounced. In the back of the book is a glossary of all words used, plus an English translation.
