For almost forty years, Lefty has been fishing all over the States. He's had his share of river washouts, sun-bright salmon days, cloudy bonefish skies, fishless days, and busted trips. Fly fishers... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a book about fishing in the USA. As Lefty tees it up in the introduction, "Here are my favorite fly-fishing waters in the United States". Fast forward to the section "The South and Midwest" (which appropriately starts off with Lake Okeechobee in Florida). In it we come across a chapter devoted to Gangler's North Seal River Lodge. Just exactly where is this? Lefty is quite specific, writing, "The lodge is located in the extreme northwest corner of Manitoba - a true wilderness area visited by very few people". Gee, last time I looked Manitoba was a Canadian province, not the 51st state of the Union. Setting this bit of poetic license aside, Lefty's Favorite Fly-Fishing Waters is an enjoyable and informative book. The author gives insight into a varied cross section of fly-fishing locations. Technical information is accompanied by interesting anecdotes, maps (which could be a bit more detailed), and some beautiful photography. For this it earns a four star recommendation. Just don't use it to teach your kid geography.
