excellent reader for intermediate students

I've had intermediate college French and have studied in La Rochelle for a summer--so I'm no neophyte, but only marginally conversational. In addition to (many) other materials, this is a great resource. It's probably best to have had either 201 or 202 French before one starts with this reader because it assumes a decent, but not vast, vocabulary. Contes et legendes has helped my reading comprehension markedly, mostly by building my vocabulary, but also with the exercies given after each tale. More advanced vocabulary is provided in the margin, but I still have to look some words up. The tales are usually interesting, and often funny--sorry for the cliche, but it does make learning rather fun.
