New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury reminds us to savor every moment with our kids in this unforgettable book. With heartwarming illustrations and a sweet, reflective tone, bestselling author Karen Kingsbury encourages parents to savor not only their children's firsts, like first steps and first words, but the lasts as well.
With the tenderness of a mother speaking directly to her child, Karen reminds us not to miss last days of kindergarten and last at-bats in Little League amid the whirlwind of life. Adapted from a poem in Rejoice, this book allows mothers and grandmothers everywhere to identify with the tenderhearted reflections on these pages. The illustrations by Mary Collier provide a lighthearted portrayal of everyday family life . . . pictures we can all relate to. You and your children of all ages will smile, laugh, and maybe even shed a tear over them together. Let Me Hold You Longer is a heartwarming reminder of the precious process of growing up and the joys of watching it happen.
Endearing with the bittersweet joy and love of soon to be empty nester parents

What a sweet and charming way to let teens know how much they mean to and will be missed by loving parents! You can tell the author put a lot of heart and memories into this easy-to-relate-with book (and I don't even have kids). Also, the dog is adorable.
What more can I say?

I don't know that I can add much to what other reviewers of this book have stated so eloquently, but I loved the book so much that I wanted to add my two cents. I bought the book two days ago at a book fair, and as I read it out loud (along with its very moving introduction) to my husband on our drive home from work that day, I was so choked up I couldn't even get the words out. Not only is the book perfectly rhymed (bad rhyming is such a pet peeve of mine!), but it touched me more deeply than any other book I have ever read as a parent. Most importantly, it makes me appreciate even more all of the wonderful things my two-year-old son and one-year-old daughter do and say every day. It also gave me a "preview" of so many precious moments still to come. I am ordering multiple copies to give as gifts, because this very special book must be shared! Thank you, Karen. I look forward to getting my hands on your other books as soon as possible.
What a precious book to share with your son...

This book came highly recommened to me by a friend of mine. Upon reading the book for the first time, I had NO idea what an array of emotions would flood my thoughts. This is sweet book that reminds us moms how quickly our children grow up and how we should not only be reminded of the "firsts", but be blessed by the "last." A must for any mommy of that has been blessed with a son. Happy Reading!
So Touching!

I have loved and read most all of Karen's books. She touches my heart in a way other books don't. We became grandparents over a year ago and when I read about this book I knew it would be one I had to get for my daughter and grandson. I read it as soon as I got it and had moist eyes all the way through. My daughter loves it also. The book talks about not firsts in a childs life but lasts. Last time to be picked up and held as a child. Last day to take a bottle, etc. It is poignant. I will continue to read Karen's books and admire her as a wife, mother and auther.
A beautiful and emotional read!

I received this wonderful book as a Christmas gift. It is written truly from the HEART! And whenever I read it, it felt like I had written it straight from MINE. I could not keep from tearing up. It sends such a wonderful reminder message to us that our children do not stay little forever. Even though we all know that, we tend to get busy with day-to-day life and let the little things slip away with time. One important thing this book points out is that we tend to have pictures and records of important FIRSTS of our children, but we don't have those for the LASTS, because we never know when the last time they do something is going to come, and we're not looking for the lasts, as we look for the firsts. I could go on and on about this beautifully written and illustrated book, but you need to read it for yourself. I'm sure your heart will be touched as mine, and you will feel like Karen Kingsbury looked deep into YOUR heart and wrote down everything she saw.
Excellent

Very touching book. An excellent reminder to enjoy our children while they are little and to not be in such a hurry to have them grow up. I personally have it sitting around more as a reminder to myself than a book that I read to my children, however I have read it to my children and they did enjoy looking at the attractive illustrations.
