Should we "forgive and forget"? Better yet, should we move our bodies away from the poisonous, dreadful relationships that can only drain us? I think this book deserves a really hard look, because it raises the question of what being nice is all about. It really spells out that the "nice" person is just running from confrontation all their lives, but unfortunately, they run smack dab into trouble again and again. That's one side of the coin. We also need to understand where all these abusive or traumatic relationships are coming from, and its refreshing to have Harriet Braiker nail the personality disorders to the wall and basically tell people to "beware". We need someone to point out our boogeymen, and Harriet is up to the job, with lots of case studies and modeling the concept of becoming a "hardened target".
a must read for everyone in a relationship with trouble.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ ON RELATIONSHIPS WITH ANY DEGREE OF PROBLEM. IT WAS THE ONE BOOK I READ THAT HELPED ME SEE THAT I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO LEAVE EVERTHING I HAD WORKED FOR AND JUST WALK AWAY. I LOST EVERYTHING I HAD WORKED FOR 20 YEARS FOR AND STARTED LIFE OVER AT 55, SICK, BROKE, AND ALMOST DESTROYED BUT ALIVE AND ABLE TO COME BACK. I CAN'T BELIVE THIS BOOK IS OUT OF PRINT. I HAVE ONE COPY WHICH I WILL NOT LET OUT OF MY HOME. ANOTHER COPY IS ON ORDER TO BE ABLE TO SHARE WITH OTHERS WHO NEED THIS BOOK. IT IS AS TRUE AS THE BIBLE AND EVEN RESTATES SOME OF THE BIBLE TRUTHS.
