This is the last true crime book I will ever read. All other true crime books are like trying to learn how to swim gradually. This book picks you up and tosses you in the deep end.

This is the only book I have ever read that made me throw up. I actually got physically sick from the details in this story. If you have a queasy stomach, which I do not, I urge you to pass this 464-page book by. While it is excellently written and is everything a good book should be, what these people did is sickening! I have been a combat soldier that underwent terrorist and anti-terrorist training and an EMT on a crash & rescue unit. I thought I had seen some horrible things. But these people were depraved and demented. They took things beyond the capability of my wildest imagination.This case created what is said to be the "costliest and, by far, most controversial manhunt and most sensational trial in Canada's history." It was considered too grisly for television and newspaper coverage at the time. This is the first complete and uncensored account of this couple's rape/murder spree. There is a large percentage of the population that feel justice was not served in this case and that feel the prosecutors failed to do their job.In spite of the gory details, or perhaps because of them, this is a fascinating read. You just cannot believe that it is nonfiction. It makes you look twice at everyone you meet.

I have read quite a few true crime books and this is THE most chilling and disturbing book by far. If you have a weak heart and/or weak stomach, do not read this book. Once I picked this book up, I could not put it down.
Gripping

I recommend this book to any fan of true crime. It is a bit graphic and detailed when it comes to the actual crimes, but you won't put it down, I guarantee it. It kind of take off a bit slowly, but soon you are in their world, and it's a sick place.
One of the best true crime books written

I have been reading true crime almost exclusively since I can remember and this book is ranked in my top 3. It intrigues and captures the reader from the childhoods of Karla and Paul to the investigation and following trial. All I can say is Canada should of reinstalled the guillotine for these 2 depraved individuals. It is apalling and quite scary that they, especially Karla, will get out of prison. I moved from the US to Quebec in 95 and the trial of Paul Bernardo dominated the news, this book allowed me to see what all the fuss was about. It also allowed me to realise how dangerous it is to give 2 seemingly normal and upstanding individuals directions on a deserted street and for that, I thank you Nick Pron. I would recommend this book but only if you do not mind graphic descriptions of sexual crimes.
This book will bring tears to your eyes.

I couldn't stop reading this book once I started, and I had tears in my eyes through the chapters involving the murders. This book gives actual quotes from the videotapes made of the murders. The author covers the crimes, the murders of Tammy, Leslie and Kristen, using language from the tapes and transcripts of the trial. If you want more coverage of Paul and Karla, and less coverage and details of the crimes, read "Deadly Innocence"; it gives the reader great insight and background to the lives of the murderers. The authors go into almost excruciating detail of Paul and Karla's childhood lives and upbringing, and give the reader a detailed account of their sick & twisted relationship through the eyes of their friends. In all honesty ---- "Lethal Marriage" was almost too much for me. I was unable to sleep after I'd gotten through the chapter on Leslie's murder.
