Letters From Egypt is Florence's only publication not concerned with nursing. The letters reveal her as an energetic and sympathetic young woman with her life before her---but in places it is difficult not to read more into her observations, as when she described the hardships of the nun with whom she travelled to Alexandria.
Being a nurse I enjoyed reading more about Florence Nightingale the adventure tourist and spiritual woman!Having recently travelled in Egypt,it is amazing how much the Nile has changed in the last 150years and what a rarity an Englishwoman must have been to the locals in Florences time.Cruising the Nile is now a luxury trip, but one has to admire Florence for her stamina and ingenuity.A great insight into Egypt.
