When it was published in 1987, Letting God was the first book to explore the themes of the Twelve-Step programs within the context of Christian tradition. Now revised to emphasize its spiritual focus, and including an introduction presenting a monthly theme, each daily reading begins with a selection from the New Testament. These are followed by eloquent, thought-provoking meditations that reveal how the passages apply to Christian living today, and conclude with a brief prayer. This inspiring daily devotional strengthens and encourages the reader, providing sustenance for the sould and practical insights on everyday life.
Several years ago, I began the practice of reading and reflecting every morning, using "day" books. This is one of the best books I have used. The New Testament of the Bible is one of the two greatest books on recovery ever written (the Big Book is the other), so the Bible verse and related reflection by the author are a perfect combination, and it works well with the "24 Hour Book" and "Daily Reflections", and probably any other daily reflection book you care to use. Pick it up!
A must have for spiritual guidance

This is an excellent book for daily reading. It's spiritually uplifting and an encouragement for addiction recovery. It gives moral lessons and does it without a preaching attitude. It's written from the heart and I recommend it for any one that is seeking a more spiritual life.
Inspiring! Strengthens and encourages.

This inspiring daily devotional strenthens and encourages the reader. The author provides practical insights into scripture and makes the Bible come alive for living in today's world. Also included are prayers for recovery and a handy Index of Steps and Slogans. Letting God is a "must have" for anyone who is recovering from addictions of drugs, alcohol, gambling, porn, sexual addictions etc.
About the best aide to 12th step growth I've used so far. Not "heavy-handed" and not "religious>" Only gentle leadings... as those of a Shepherd or a Loving God as He manifests Himself here too. Quiet, gentle musings - great for 11th Step work. I recommend it heartily!
An excellent daily meditation book using the twelve steps.

"Letting God" is an excellent twelve step, daily meditation book. The author, A. Philip Parham, is an Episcopal priest. He has intentionally returned to the twelve steps' original roots, which are in the Christian gospel, so the devotional meditations are unreservedly Christian in nature. (Since I am a Baptist pastor I found this welcome and spiritually refreshing.) Each devotional takes only a couple of minutes to read, and most of them include a very interesting story to illustrate one of the twelve steps.
