Lighting The Way

Great book to help those share their faith. I loved the practical ideas, and found the daily format easy to use.

A Guide Book for Lighthouses of Prayer, Care, and Share

Have you heard about the Lighthouse movement? It's affiliated with Mission America and "Celebrate Jesus 2000," a national initiative to pray for and share Christ with every person in America by year-end 2000.One of the major strategies is called Lighthouses. A Lighthouse is a gathering of two or more people in Jesus' name for the purpose of praying for, caring for, and sharing Christ with their neighbors and others in their sphere of influence.Lighting the Way, takes readers on a 90-day spiritual journey to becoming a fully functioning Lighthouse.Lighting the Way is designed for use individually or with a group of Christians who are committed to growth in witnessing. "As you pray together for the unsaved God has placed in your path, you will also pray for each other to grow in sharing faith in Christ more effectively," writes the author in the book's Introduction."Any Sunday school class may use Lighting the Way by taking 10 minutes of a regular class session to discuss the week's steps, review new skills, and hold each other accountable for witnessing growth in prayer, care, and share areas.... Each page of the 90-day journey is designed to take you in sequential steps into more effective witnessing."Here's an excerpt from Week 11, Day 2, "Why am I distracted when presenting the Gospel?"Read: Isaiah 52:7 "The feet of those who bring the good news" is a reference to messengers who ran from the scene of battle to bring news of the outcome to a waiting king and people. In this passage, "news" refers to the return from exile and deliverance from sin found in Christ Jesus. The reason we are distracted from sharing the Gospel after much preparation is that we are in a spiritual battle. The devil is prowling around really upset with you because you are victoriously sharing the Good News that will set another soul free from his control. This is front-line attack. I recall being attacked by bees on a patio, children acting up for attention, TVs blaring, and phones ringing when I would get to the point of sharing the steps of salvation and obedience to God.The best response is to pray away the evil one, keep your focus, and defeat the enemy by boldly sharing. If you know this will be a point of contention, you will be prepared to tough it out through any distraction or obstacle. This battle is a sign you are right on track in presenting the words to set your seekers free.Do not give up! Keep on going. Even if circumstances seem to delay you, return to the point of presentation. Your feet must be firmly planted on the spiritual mountain top with the Holy Spirit. Do not move off course, even if it means sharing days later. Be a strong and courageous Lighthouse. Send out clear radiant beams of light in the midst of darkness.Prayer: Pray God will protect you from giving in to the forces coming against your witness, your clear presentation of the Gospel, and the receptive heart of your seeker. Care: Regardless of your seek
