This must have been the 20th book I've read by D.S. I am always impressed with her depth of detail! Breast cancer is undoubtedly an ugly disease. Her description of the "affect" and "effect" of cancer on the charaters is very vivid and true to life. Some men just cannot handle any trauma while others can't be supportive enough. D.S.'s characters always have a twist and this story was throughly enjoyable. I believe most women would have cut Sam loose forever; but, Alex loved him and love overcame in the end.
It's Great! The Bad Guy Gets the Girl!

I really liked the ending to this one. The jerk (who also happens to be the heroine's husband) reunites with her and the two live happily ever after. The good guy who has supported the heroine throughout the terrible ordeal of her illness gets dumped on. Most, if not all, of Ms Steel's lead male characters tend to have three dominant traits. One, they're at the top of their profession; two, they're great physical lovers; three, they're so wimpy and whiney that they're apt to cry if the waiter delivers the salad with the wrong dressing. In other words, the lead male has the emotional makeup of a 14 year old. Usually, Ms Steel arranges it so the wimp gets the girl. It was fantastic when Alex dumped on Brock at the end.

I have read this book several times and each time I read it I love it more and more..Danielle is a magnificant author that can catch the hearts of her readers and keep them interested....I look forward to more of her books..

If you like a book which brings on an odd tear this isn't good enough. Every chapter in this book makes you shed a tear abotu Alex and Sam Parker's life. Alex is shocked when a shadow turns up in her yearly mannogram. She is even more shocked when she discovers it is a tumor and has a massectomy. She is sure her life is ruined.After the massectomy, Alex's life begins to fall apart as she struggles though a course of chemotherapy and her marriage breaks down. And each page and every struggle, will bring a tear to your eye.
