This time-saving reference offers practical information on 15 types of emergency professionals and their experiences, featuring chapters that focus on specific professions, such as dispatchers, dog... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is divided up into 4 different sections: Those who locate, Those who access, Those who stabilize, and Those who treat. You will get a good overview of what might happen if your character is injured or comes upon the scene of an accident. The individual chapters for the different jobs like EMT, firefighter, dog handler, cave rescuer, HAZMAT responder, etc., give some handy information such as qualifications, equipment, job description, history, dangers, and a sampling of the language. Unfortunately, the chapters are way too short and general to use as a sole reference for main characters whose jobs are in the rescue profession. You will need further reference. The good news is that the bibliography in the back gives some further reading suggestions. Overall, the book is a good starting point into the world of rescue and might be sufficient for general writing. Plan on needing more materials for more detailed characters and plots.
