Cindy, as a Magical baker with dozens of bakeries scattered through the worlds, is the perfect mentor for Lil's new venture.

It is at Cindy's bakery that Lil runs into- or is run into by- a giant. Well, Hunter is not really a giant, but a good-natured, friendly man who threatens to sidetrack Lil and exactly the wrong time.

And the timing is dreadful. Shifters all over the earth have been succumbing to a terrible Shifter that forces them into the Last Change. The shifters who fall ill shift into their other forms permanently.
