Having read a number of books by Carrie Fancett Pagels and being a Michigander who loves Mackinac Island, I was doubly looking forward to reading Lilac Cottage. I was not disappointed. Lilac Cottage, second in the Mackinac Cottage series, is a well-told story full of wonderful prose, a few surprising twists and turns, and a revealing of long-held secrets that kept my interest high--and of course a sweet romance too. The characters are realistic and likable with difficult struggles that are realistic as well. The author deftly tackles onerous issues such as alcoholism, infidelity, and broken family relationships. Readers who enjoy contemporary romance stories about forgiveness and second chances, families and friends, with a setting on a beautifully unique island, will not want to miss Lilac Cottage write a review.
I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
