My first resource for medical questions

We've had this book for years, and it's always the first place I go when we have a medical question. You can find out right away whether your problem is potentially serious, whether you should see a doctor, how to relieve a sunburn - anything! It's a well organized and thoroughly researched book.

This is a reassuring guide to look over when you're bothered by some strange symptom in the middle of the night or on a weekend (when most illnesses seem to happen) and you don't want to go to the ER just to see what it might be. You can get an idea of what may be bothering you and whether it is serious or not.I think that this book is better than using Webmd because it's ad-free and has a good topical index. You can read up on conditions and learn about them to become a much more informed patient. Over the years I have reached for it many times.

This book is an excellent source of useful daily information. It should be included in everyone's reference library. It should be noted that it was only republished in 1997. The book is a reprint of the 1988 edition.

Excellent guide to checking your symptoms when you don't feel well. The book well help you figure out what's wrong. Not comprehensive, but what book on this topic can be? Also discusses dangerous symptoms that you cannot alleviate on your own.
