Helen Forrester is an amazing writer

My Aunt suggested I read Helen Forrester's books so that I might understand more of what growing up was like for her in the 1930's of the East End of London. Although Helen's story takes place in Liverpool the stories are very similar and helped me to understand so much about the hardships our parents and grandparents endured. In these uncertain financial times so many of us are one paycheck away from being homeless. Helen's courage can be an inspriation for us all that we can endure, grow and eventually prosper under great hardship. This is a great read for any age. I would suggest it for teens for Christmas to remind them just how lucky they are to be growing up in such a rich society.

Hellen Forester is a writer like no other. I have read several of her books and all of them made me feel as if I was standing by audience. It is real! I absolutely love the way she writes, her documentary of the Depression times, her sense of humor and the sense of coming to your heart is unbelievable. Don't believe me? Read any of her books yourself. :-0
