About the early planning of these ten spectacular miles of California coast, our founding landscape architect, Lawrence Halprin, declared that the "most difficult task was finding a way for people to inhabit the magnificent and natural system in numbers without destroying the very reason for people to come here."
With this challenge in mind, we created strong governing documents to insure the preservation of this fragile environment. These documents continue to guide us some 50 years later.
