If you've thought about simplifying, but don't know where to begin, LIVING THE SIMPLE LIFE is the blueprint you need. And if you've already started to simplify, it will give you new insights and ideas... This description may be from another edition of this product.
No, this is not a book about time management. At least not directly. I do many of those things and still have had a hard time finding time. I have been trying to simplify my life, and this book is a good route. As the author points out, it does not mean moving into a shanty in the woods miles from anyone. There are many good suggestions and good examples. It is simple to read and can be read five minutes at a time without losing the train of thought. In addition to simplifying and reducing stress, you may find yourself spending less, saving more, more time with your family and be happier as well. Recommended.
Excellent ideas--if you keep your mind open

Those who bash this book should not have picked it up in the first place. I have wanted to downshift my life for 5 years now. This book has given me the map toward doing just that. The ideas are hers but the choices are mine. I'm willing to consider all of them. This book is not about throwing everything away and becoming a hermit. It is about deciding what is important to you and focusing your precious life energy on those few things.
When life gets crazy.

I've read a couple of Elaine St. James' books, and this is my favorite. Lots of important reminders for creating more peace and joy through simplicity. I pick this book up when life gets too crazy. It's a good gift, too.
Excellent philosophy

We simplified our lives before I read this book - only because we lost our house and had nowhere to live. Everything we own is now sitting in a 10'x 10' storage unit. This was depressing - until I read this book and realized that everything we own - are the things I loved most. I gave away everything else. Now when we again own a house - I will only replace the things we NEED and LOVE. Not just to fill up space. Thank you again for writing this book
