This publication by Neal Samors includes interviews with almost 65 individuals in the areas of radio, television and the media, entertainment, sports, restaurants, politics and the law, and business whose careers were directly impacted by their years working in Chicago. Some were born there, but most of the individuals in the book care to Chicago from elsewhere in the country and shaped the early to middle years of their careers in the city. The book also includes almost 75 photographs, and the interviewees range from Hugh Downs, Mike Wallace, Hugh Hefner, Lee Phillip Bell, Joel Daly, Frank Mathie, Shelley Berman, Ramsey Lewis, Harold Ramis, Dick Biondi, and Clark Weber to Billy Pierce, Gale Sayers, Glenn Hall, and Johnnie "Red" Kerr, Chef Grant Achatz, Larry Levy, and US District Judge Marvin Aspen. The Introduction to the book was written by Gary Johnson and the Foreword is written by Tom Dreesen. Introductions to the six sections of the book were written by Paul Meincke, David Marienthal, Penny Pollack, Marc Schulman, Grant DePorter, and US Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky.
