I actually do not make a habit of reading diet books, but since this isn't supposed to be a "diet" book I gave it a chance. I like Douglass' frank discussion of basic health without resorting to myths. This is the basics of good health--which, frankly, is probably all we really need. I like the way the system is organized, the nod to the Word of Wisdom (even though I believe a non-Mormon could appreciate this good advice), and Douglass' funny references to her own life every now and then. Great job that makes me want to be healthy.
My top diet book!

I have read many books on nutrition and healthy eating, as well as have taken classes from a nutritionist. This one sums it all up the best and gives a plan that I feel is a guideline to success. It is an easy read and the most valuable part of the book is the meal suggestions. I found that I had to have this book in my kitchen for the first month to refer to for ideas on what to have for breakfast and lunch. I can't say enough good about this book and really feel like it has helped me the most in my quest for a healthy lifestyle! Thank you Melanie Douglass!
