Utah is a land of untamed beauty. from the snowy peaks of the Wasatch Mountains to the brilliant red rocks of Southern Utah, the state boasts views and vistas found nowhere else in the nation.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
You do not have to be a Utahn or be from Utah to enjoy the ghost stories and history tidbits that Dunning writes about in her book. Whether you are a ghost "believer" or not, the stories are interesting and well written, so make for good reads. I like the fact that she has visited many of the sites she writes about and has researched as many of the personal histories as she could. Readers should savor a story a night before sleep!
Nice collection of Utah "Tales of the Crypt" and more....

Linda Dunning has put together a nice collection of Utah's monsters, ghosts, aliens, and other "extra-worldly" and "other-worldly" stories. From Utah's own version of "Bigfoot" and "Area 51," to the aquatic monsters in Bear Lake and Utah Lake, and those ghosts of grave robbers, she has taken the time to review journals, newspaper archives, and eye-witnesses of those events that, literally, tales are made of. Dunning clearly states that she is a skeptic, but concludes that there are enough weird events that happen to make her a believer that strange activities, beings, and places are afoot. Perhaps Bigfoot will walk out of the High Uintas, carrying strange disc-shaped metallic objects, and accompanied by a ghost or two. This book is a nice contribution to American folklore in Utah.
