The knowledge and use of magical images as a means of self development was once a closely guarded secret of initiates and adepts in the Mystery Schools. In this ground breaking new book, Gareth Knight... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Trancework is a much neglected topic in occult literature. Most books fixate on ritual technique and give little if any information on inner workings. "Magical Images. . ." is a bit different. Knight shows how trance works, and gives a more or less kabbalistic outline for structurng a trance journey. The writing of the trances is exceptionally evocative. drawing on kabbalistic and Arthurian imagery to create it pattern. The book loses one star for its misleading title. Magical images are, technically, thoughtforms built up on the astral and imbued with life by the magician. While trancework can be vital in this practice, it is not nessacary. All and all, however, this is a good book for those interested in broadening their Work and strengthening the muscles of creative visualization. Recomended.

One of the many reasons I found this book to be helpful is that it helped immensely in honing up my visualization skills. The words seem to paint the landscape before you and I found that after utilizing the exercises, the use of the creative imagination became much more pronounced. I found that it also helped with meditational skills as I could draw on the experience gained in the use of this book. The structure of the book presented a very well-rounded approach covering everything from an understanding of patterns within which are expressed in the planets and stars around us, to the composition of mood and place within which is necessary to approach the work, to the utilization of symbolism and understanding the images perceived within the work. I found it to be a very valuable tool in the expansion of my meditationl ability and also in my understanding of the necessary steps involved in reaching this level of success in inner work. I also found it to be very helpful in that each step was explained and the reasons behind using them were also given. Both novice and seasoned practitioners of meditation and visualization will benefit from the contents of this book.

I found this book to be both profound and enlight ening. Within this author's pages, I became aware of the basis and usefulness of the art of meditation. I found the exercises practical and easily done and have to acknowledge that it improved my personal studies. Of particular interest to me, was the section where Gareth Knight writes of man's perception of the the Earth's relation to our Solar System and the Universe. And of how this perception changes as man evolved to where we are today. This book should used by anyone who desires results and/or reference in exploring the benefits of meditation.
