Conflict abounds in the church of Jesus Christ. Reconciliation within the body, however, will not happen with the right "method" or "set of principles". In Making Peace, readers are challenged to place their church and all of its dissension under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
This book has been the best so far from the texts that I must read for the conflict class. This book is more practical and helpful to a preacher in a local congregation. The book is based more in scripture than the other books that are rooted in conflict management skills. This is a type of book that you could read and developed into numerous sermons from the material. The book details the four major responses to conflict within individuals. All people have certain unhealthy reactions to conflict and the book highlights these mindsets. The four type of responders are passive, evasive, defensive, and aggressive. As you read the text you will be able to see yourself and those around you. The book talks about the tactics of each group and how to deal with them. There is also an excellent section ontriangulation and counterfeit peace within congregations. Most congregations have this level of peace, but not true peace in Christ and in community. If a congregation isstruggling with communication problems, conflict, or interpersonal conflict, this is a book to get to begin the process. It is easy to understand and preach from. I highly endorse this text.
Amazing!
