What's a loyal forty-year-old California housewife supposed to do when her hot-shot lawyer husband tells her he wants a divorce? If she's Caroline James, she holds her panic at bay with a makeover and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a pretty quick read, though the story drug a bit here and there. It's really about a woman scorned, learning from a friend how those in the "know" can conspire to cheat you in a divorce. A lot of unnecessary/undeveloped characters but the overall story is clever. The author needs to read a few more Sue Grafton mysteries, but she's not bad, either. I'd like to see this character tackle a few more mysteries: she's likable and vulnerable, with the right amount of sassiness.
First Time Writer's Book is a Sparkler

Catherine Todd's first book is a winner! This fast-paced thriller detailing the machinations of a high powered law firm and how it treats some of its clients is told with dead-on accuracy, and more than a trace of humor. The heroine's trials and tribulations as a soon-to-be-divorced wife of a senior partner in the firm intersperse perfectly with the storyline of the shady goings-on that she uncovers. And those of us who know San Diego will enjoy the skewering of the La Jolla "Elite." This is a great book to add to any TBR list!
