Outstanding managers bring out the best in others and get them to give their
all to a common cause. In short, they excel as problem solvers, teachers, and
sellers of ideas. Some managers naturally have the sensitivity and skills that
make them effective and inspiring managers, but most people have to work to
develop these abilities.
In Managing with Wisdom, Jack H. Grossman shares the
principles and tools with which anyone can become an effective manager. He
begins by discussing the two types of relationships, "marketing based"
and "personal based," because your relationships with people determine
how you deal with them. Then, based on the notion that you must develop a sound
relationship with yourself for your relationships with others to be sound,
Grossman focuses on building a better you. The book concludes with principles
and tools for developing effective relationships with other people you value.
To get the most benefit from this book, readers should do the exercises and
projects recommended in each chapter. Grossman guarantees if you do your part,
you will see almost immediate results.
