In a future where people live alongside dinosaurs and monsters called Crospies roam the streets at night, the only thing protecting the city of Chicago from their carnivorous rage is the dino-riding police force, the Beast Riders. Mara Brown, a young woman with dreams of being a great Beast Rider, has been training her entire life to join them. When Mara is denied a position on the squad she finds herself unable to sit by and watch as Crospie sightings become more and more frequent throughout Chicago and wants to be able to help her city.
