Martha has lost her collar and ended up at the local animal shelter. It falls to her to organize a pound break for all her new doggy friends but she soon discovers freedom isn't much without a family.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
My 7 year-old girl loved reading this book. I've been trying to find books she will read herself, and the Martha Speaks books seem to be winners. They have colorful pictures that make my daughter want to read it. She giggles the whole time she is reading it, and usually reads it again, almost immediately after. The Shelter Dog Blues story is quite good. It is not too sappy and is not pushing any agenda other than dogs need good homes. Who could argue with that.
A funny, colorful book

I am 5 and I love this book. It is a chapter book. A talking dog loses her collar and it falls out the window into the trash. She gets picked up by a dog catcher. And she gets locked in a cage. The other dogs hated being locked in cages. She tried to reach the button to get out. The dog catcher caught them again. So, Martha came up with the idea of a dog talent show, so the dogs would get new owners. I like this book because it is funny and it has lots of colorful pictures. I like the dog Pops because he is funny. I like Martha because she is cute. I like the dog with the pink bow. Other kids will like this story because it is funny and cute.
