From the MASTER BRIDGE series, a book which covers each aspect of match-point bridge from the opening lead in a part-score contract to sacrificing against a grand slam, aimed primarily at club players... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The author covers typical Match Point decisions like: 1) Contract evaluation - is this a good/neutral/bad/field contract. 2) What is likely to happen at other tables, what will the scores be? 3) How will you need to play this contract to do well? You ened up in 4 or 5 Diamonds instead of 3 NT? What will it take for 3NT to go down, and plan on it? 4) How is the lead (favorable/unfavorable/neutral) 5) How to play the hand, what safety plays to take or reject. There are lots of non double dummy problems along the lines of what to bid or how to play the contract. You may need to evaluate the contract and realize you will get a good score if you only go down 2, and play for that. Overall, a great book for serious Match Point players.
