Strikes the right balance

I have had a hard time trying to find a biblical commentary that is (1) Catholic, (2) devotional, and (3) scholarly. Most commentaries are either too dry and academic, or they are just simplistically devotional in nature. This book I think strikes the right balance. I also like the format - a section of the gospel is printed, then a devotional/commentary follows on that section. With other commentaries, I got tired of going from the top of the page to the footnotes (like in the Navarre and Ignatius commentaries). I'm looking forward to buying the other books in the series, and I hope they continue it to other books in the Bible!
