Keeping pace with the ongoing rapid developments and expanding vocabularies of 100 different scientific and engineering fields, the fifth edition of this dictionary contains more than 5100 new terms.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The more I use this dictionary, the more I come to like it. It's handy to have a specific dictionary for scientific and technical terms, and I feel more complete with this by my side. The coverage is comprehensive, the layout is clean and easy to read, and the added illustrations are a nice touch.I would also recommend the McGraw-Hill Concise Encyclopedia of Science & Technology as a nice supplement.

The best of its type!

I have been a technical writer/editor for more than 20 years, and have yet to find a more comprehensive dictionary of this type. For the engineer or the technical writer or editor, this publication is really the best. One might consider it to be too general, but with almost 2,200 pages, 105,000 terms, 122,000 definitions, and 15 appendices ranging from the Periodic Table of the Elements to schematic electronic symbols to the classification of living organisms, it is useful in many scientific fields. In addition, it is visually appealing and easy to read, with liberal inclusion of illustrations in the outside margins of almost every page. You won't be sorry you bought it, and you might even be able to eliminate several other scientific dictionaries occupying precious room on your shelves (this edition is approximately three inches thick).
The most comprehensive collection of scientific terminology.
