Good Coverage of the Concepts

This books covers the design and development of SQL Server. Alone, it doesn't completely prepare you for the exam, but with some additional practice, you should be able to pass.

I recommend this over the Microsoft book, because of the content and the sample exams and the flash cards. Much effort went into THIS book.

Not only does this book cover the topics necessary to pass 70-229, but it contains information that will help you become a solid DBA in the real world. The coverage on undocumented DBCC commands is extemely helpful in terms of helping you understand SQL Server 2000 internal architecture and, hence, optimization. This title is among my top 3 favorite Sybex books.

This is a fantastic guide to the hardest SQL Server test I've ever taken. I would recommend using it to gain the base knowledge and then use a Transcender-type test to see if you retained it. This is a killer test and this book will give you the core of what you need to pass it.
