This incredibly well-written story was immensely entertaining as well as insightful. Swain accurately captures the spirit and personality of such a wide range of characters - from the unfailingly polite language of sheltered, Laura Ingalls-like girls from the remote countryside to the bitingly sarcasting text-messages sent between ultra-hip, tech-saavy New York teens. Her ability to describe the physiological sensations we all experience - like anger, jealousy, having a crush on someone or a long-awaited first kiss - is unparalleled. The many struggles encountered by the protagonist Zephyr will resonate with anyone and the book may even provide some insight to remedy some of your own life's struggles. It did for me. In one scene where Zephyr's wise, old grandmother asks her some difficult questions, it was as if her grandmother were speaking directly to me, confronting me the very questions I needed to ask myself at the time. And, like Zephyr, I was able to find the answers I needed.
