Nice book for kids

This is a picture book for children, with a cute story about the origin of the Pink Panther wrapped around his legendary appearance inside a rare gem and its pursuit by Inspector Clouseau. The authors, Hope Freleng Shaw and Sybil Freleng Bergman, are the daughters of the creator of the animated Panther, the late Friz Freleng. They have drawn on many of the stories concocted by their Dad as plot elements. And as a bonus, the book is very nicely illustrated by one of Freleng's most valued animators, Art Leonardi. Animation fans may be a little disappointed in the lack of historical content (that's found in Jerry Beck's concurrent book instead), but kids looking for a nice picture book about the animated Panther will love it.
