Excellent book about men in nursing

What I loved most about this book was that it presented a far more detailed and rich history of men in nursing than I ever received in nursing school. There was a lot of really great information in here. I highly recommend the book to fellow men in nursing, as well as anyone else interested in the issues we face.

some excellent articles

I have to disagree with the reviewer who said this book is too dry. It is an academic book!! The problem with this book is not that it's dry, but that there wasn't enough material on any one topic to fill up a single focused book. As you can see from the table of contents I posted, there are historical reports here jumbled with conceptual articles about masculinity and nursing jumbled with other things. If you are interested in men in nursing, there are some excellent and useful articles, but I would suggest getting this book through interlibrary loan before buying it. I could only make use of about half of the book.
