Based on the letters, emails, and conversations between Jan Merlin and William Russo over many decades. Jan Merlin starred in many films of the 1950s and 1960s, was featured in two TV series (Tom Corbett, Rough Riders), acted in Mr. Roberts on Broadway, and wrote a dozen books. His life spanned 1925 to 2019. His words have been arranged chronologically and by topic, though the ideas may have been expressed several times and in different ways over many years. This is not just a tribute to a man who felt passed over many times, but guarantees that his observations of a culture in film, stage, and television, of the 20th century would be preserved. Though Jan gave some personal details, this is an account of his professional life, not his private life. It is a memoir, not an autobiography.
