This was the first book on Access that made sence. I had become used to the old Ashton Tate Dbase II, III and IV and couldn't believe how slow Access was for find data until I read this book. You will be able to make fast stand alone apps by chapter 8, and write about 70% of the Visual Basic code you'll need with Access. This book is for beginners but for most Access users it's all you'll need. Developer will need much more but this made me a beliver in Access. The only week point was in the making menu section. They describe how to make menus with Visual Basic, not Access.
Easy to understand, easy to use, a little tricky 2 implement

First off, if you are a beginner at programming, this book is great. The book gives you easy to understand, hard to fail examples that walk you through the code and gives you a basic understanding of what your writing. The only time I struggled was when I was trying to implement the code to my own applications. This is the book's only short coming in that it doesn't explain the possible errors that you might encounter. Eventually, I was able to figure out the reasons for my problems, but it took a little time. But I have a few different books, including the VBA handbook and my feeling is that this book does the best job of getting you moving along. If you plan on writing a lot more code, eventually you'll probably want to pick up one of the large reference books, but for learning the ropes, start with this book.

Thsi book was great! I recommend getting this book if your just starting out with VBA in Access. It has a nice flow to it, good pictures and lots of examples.
It was perfect for me.

I'm someone who's trying to teach herself VBA for Access, and this book was ideal. I suppose for someone who already has a heavy background in VBA, it might be too simple, but in my case, the book taught me several dozen neat techniques for improving my Access experience. It was both easy to follow and highly useful. I couldn't be happier about having bought it. If the book cost three times as much, I'd still buy it. I can't wait to buy Mr. Callahan's next book.
Too easy - not for professional programmers

I just received this book, kind of disappointing. It seems to easy, definately not for professional database programmers.Realational database implementation is not emphersized.Maybe it is good for poeple who never write VBA before.
