Michael George Glen Waltz was born on January 31, 1974, in Boynton Beach, Florida, and raised in Jacksonville, where his journey toward a life of service and leadership began. From an early age, Waltz was drawn to public service and the call to protect his country. This passion led him to the Virginia Military Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
Waltz's military career is a remarkable testament to his courage and dedication. After graduating from Ranger School, he was selected to become a Green Beret, joining the ranks of the U.S. Army Special Forces. Over the course of his 26-year military career, Waltz served on multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa. His actions in combat earned him numerous decorations, including four Bronze Stars-two of which were for valor.
