These are the adventures of Miss Dorothy Hadden; an Edwardian magicians assistant who assists her brother in investigating strange incidents and happenings in Edwardian times. Normally Dorothy is to be found on the stage of the Paradise music hall & Theatre in the east End of London. But when called upon; she lends her unique talents to investigating the supranational, paranormal and mysterious. Her brother - Harry - is a London detective Inspector and with their Uncle William - the Magician 'Professor Dustin Potts' they tackle the strange and mysterious which sometimes can be quite deadly. This book is the FIRST from the Internet series that intially appeared in 2016, written under the author's 'nom-de-plume' 'William Alexander Stephens'.
THE EPISODES IN SERIES ONE ARE:
1. The workhouse corpse with golden boots. "A strange vagrant attempts to contact Dorothy and is subsquently found in the local workhouse with his throat cut. The only clue is apparently that his boots are covered in golden tinsel and he certainly wasn't a tramp or vagrant. Soon the dead bodies start to pile up and Dorothy starts to believe that a 'time-traveller' from the future is back in Edwardian London with evil intentions."
2. The strange death of Mrs. Hanna Dashwood. "Dorothy is shocked to find that her lady friend - Mrs. Hanna Dashwood - from the 'Whitechapel ladies cycling club' has been found died in a derelict old house and apparently she drowned! With her brother Harry assigned the case, Dorothy suddenly finds that her life is in danger and the team must uncover who is behind the strange murder and quickly!"
3. The hidden window. "Uncle William - with Dorothy and Harry - has been invited to his cousin's wedding at Barfield Castle. The young Earl of Hadden is to marry his American actress finance. But an ancient window is uncovered before the wedding and local legend says that foretells disaster and death for the family. It soon becomes apparent that the curse is real when the family butler turns up dead and that's just the start!"
4. A terrible glimpse of things to come. "Dorothy has an ardent admirer who attends nearly every show; an American professor with a passion for the supernatural and paranormal. But what is the strange young man building in the basement of the local Oddfellows Hall? When strange deaths start to occur, Dorothy begins to believe that maybe the dashing young professor is not all he seems."
5. The complicated funeral of Sir William McKenzie. "Uncle William is shocked to find that his old school friend; Sir William McKenzie has been found dead on a Paris train and the man's nephew is on the run for the apparent murder. But when the young man - Robert Laxton - turns up at the theatre with a disturbing tale to tell; Dorothy knows she must investigate."
6. Sir Henry Hadden and the tomb of Pharaoh Amenhotep V. "Dorothy's eldest brother; Sir Henry Hadden is excavating in the Southern desert of Egypt, near the old cemetery city of Saqqara. Near Halloween, he's visited by His brother William, who has bought Dorothy and Harry along with him for a holiday. One such tomb belongs to the Pharaoh Amenhotep V - who was known as the 'Dark Pharaoh' - its rumoured that he practised the dark arts and had laid a terrible curse upon those who dare violate his resting place - despite the warnings Sir Henry goes after the tomb."
