I am the river, deep and strong; I sing an old, enduring song ........ I found this book while searching for books for my grandchildren, and bought this because I love poetry that RHYMES. I read this book, and then read it again, and then typed it out so I could carry it in my wallet so I could read it when the whim struck. It is lovely poetry! It tells a story and is essentially a song about the Mississippi. I have no connection whatsoever to the Mississippi River, but that makes no difference. If you love rhyming, poetic, musical words, this is for you! And for your grandchildren, or children. All of Diane Siebert's books are wonderful, but this one will stick in your head the longest. Please try to find this book! You won't regret it.
