Missy's Misadventure

In the story, "Missy's Misadventure" we find Missy the Dog enjoying the festive spirit relaxing on the couch, listening to Christmas tunes and inhaling delicious smells! Then, just as Missy is feeling safe and secure, Mom gets a phone call to go on an errand. Mom rushes out of the house forgetting to put Missy in her kennel. Left alone in the house Missy wanders from room to room and discovers a chocolate bar. Missy rips off the wrapper and devours the chocolate bar. When Dad comes home and takes Missy for a walk, he soon realizes something is wrong as Missy's stomach is making funny sloshing noises. Soon Mom returns, and they discover the empty chocolate bar wrapper. Mom and Dad take Missy to the Emergency Vet Clinic. Missy has to eat black chalk paste to soak up the chocolate in her upset tummy. Missy is sent home to rest. Callie the Cat, from Callie's Big Adventure, has been watching and cautioning Missy as the story progresses. And as the story ends, Callie the Cat has the last word.

Author's Note:
Based on a true story, told from the point of view of the animals, this is a cautionary tale about the perils of chocolate and dogs. As a retired teacher, I wanted to share this story to illustrate that Christmas time is especially tricky as we are all busy and distracted. We can easily forget to store wrapped or unwrapped chocolate away from dogs.
