Since 1983, the firepower, protection and stock action of the Challenger Main Battle Tanks has been instrumental to the success of British forces. In addition to the familiar gun tanks, the Challenger family encompasses the Rhino Armoured Repair & Recover Vehicle (ARRV) and the new Trojan Armoured Engineer Vehicle (AEV). As the tank is well represented by major kit manufactures in both 1/72 and 1/35 scales, this book covers a wide range of the Challenger family. Each chapter presents the model using colour photos to illustrate scratch-building, painting and weathering techniques.
This book is an exception production. Subject choice is great and the painting techniques of Pat Johnston make this book a really must have. The winter finish made on his ARRV is perheaps the best I remember published. It is frankly amazing that while the subjects are the Chally 1 and 2, the tech shown is perfectly inspiring for other modelling subjects - like multi tone camo, desert finishes and winter finishes. Scratch builders will also find a special place inside this book and here Graeme Davidson words are really inspiring - if you can build a box, 80% of the job is done. A very friendly aproach with very high standard results. You'll love this book.
