After her big brother Curtis is gunned down in the streets of Brooklyn, Angel's family crumbles. Grief stricken, her mother turns to heroin to ease her pain. She doesn't notice that her son has no food or that her daughters' clothes are torn and dirty. Worst of all, she doesn't see what her boyfriend does to Angel behind closed doors. Desperate to support her younger brother and sister, Angel hits the streets looking for anything or anyone to help. But she's fifteen years old, so options for legal work are few. As a last resort, she turns to her brother's best friend, Antoine, who arranges for a job for her at a strip club. It's only supposed to be for a while, until she can get her working papers. Angel is convinced she won't fall victim to the streets like her mother. But the fast life has its temptations and a magical ability to make you forget.
This book was in great condition, and the story line was another win win for Miasha
GREAT BOOK!

This is not your normal "Thug, Gangsta, and Money" Book. Most books are all about the same thing and when you read them they start to sound just like other books, but this book is GREAT. I love this book i read it in one day then let my friend read it and she read it in one day. I love Miasha's books I can't wait for her next book "Sistah for sale". Miasha doesnt ever let me down. Good Job Miasha :)
Rock Bottom

Damn! That's how I felt by the time I finished reading this book. Angel's journey took me back in the day when a friend of mine was in this same situation. I couldn't imagine having to go through any of the situations Angel went through, and it was like she just couldn't seem to get it together. When it rains it pours, and this poor girl was like a Tsunami victim. I hate giving a book away in a review, but I will tell you that you will need some Kleenex for this one. Just like Miasha's other books, this one took you to a place, and drug you into the book making you feel like you were right there when the action was taking place. I hope there's a sequel because Angel's sister Najah, was on the same path of distruction, and it was sad because at the tender age of 15, Angel went through so much. This one was a tear jerker, and it is made to be read in one sitting. Definitely, put this on your to-read list ASAP!
What an Ending!!

This book was great! But what threw me for a loop was the ending.Man I did not see that one coming! i had to reread it like 3 or 4 times to make sure that i wasnt trippin'!!! I felt so sorry for Angel and the way she had to handle life after her brother was killed. i wont spoil the book for those who havent read it yet but I must say it is a page turner with LOTS of twists! I just wish it had an epilogue cause I would have like to have known what happened to the baby, her siblings, Antoine, Butter, Marvin and her mom.
Rising Star

A well written urban tale that gives us a hardcore look at the life of a child being raised by a junkie, Miasha does a great job of pulling the reader in immediately and never letting go. An easy read that will leave you wanting more, I finished this book in just one day and was comfortable recommending it to my teenage niece. Miasha is definitely a rising star on the literary scene and one to watch in 07!
