Former Mexico City resident Chris Humphrey provides travelers with an insider's view of the metropolis, from exploring the myriad historical sites packed into the world-famous Centro neighborhood to viewing the renowned paintings of Frida Kahloa, Diego Rivera, David Siquieros, and Jose Clemente Orozco. Humphrey also provides unique trip strategies, including Indiginous Past and Present, and for those with only a few days to spare, A Weekend in Mexico City. Complete with details on visiting the colonial village of Tlalpan, viewing the pyramids of Teotihuacan, or hiking to see Monarch butterflies in forest reserves, Moon Mexico City gives travelers the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience.
This is a superb guidebook. Thorough, yet concise. Well-written and well-organized. Good maps. Sturdy construction. Ideal size for carrying. Lots of reviews and suggestions. Interesting to read. Covers all of Mexico City and day-trip destinations.

I picked up the previous edition of this book on a whim before a two-week trip to Mexico City a few years ago, and liked it so much that I got myself the new edition for another recent trip. It gives you an excellent overview of the basic stuff, but never fails to come up with new and interesting ideas and angles, even if you already know the city quite well. I am very impressed with the authors' ability to convey a spot-on sense of how the city is like. This guide has never failed me. To me, it's a considerably better quality product than the usual travel guides and therefore highly recommended.
Excellent, reliable guide

I bought this when a previous edition of the same guidebook began to deteriorate physically, after constant use on several trips! This book is compact, easy to carry. It is well written - concise, intelligent, and informative. I've been getting to know Mexico City over the last few years through repeated visits, and so far this book hasn't let me down. I'm particularly interested in cultural, architectural, and historical sites, and the Moon Handbook has directed me to many wonderful things, some well frequented by tourists, others less so. I've found it to be a perfect combination of seriousness and brevity.
